How we’re responding to COVID-19

The egg farmers and graders who produce Conestoga Farms eggs provide an essential service to many families and businesses in Ontario, and we want to assure our customers, consumers, communities and employees that we will continue to produce and deliver a safe food product.

As part of Ontario’s food supply, we work in an essential industry and we have a special responsibility to maintain our normal work schedule. Our facilities continue to operate at full capacity. Fortunately, there are no known indications that coronavirus can be transferred through the food supply, and we remain committed to meeting the current high demand for eggs. To date, our production and service levels remain strong and we remain confident in the dependability of our food system.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, who work hard each day to produce eggs for our consumers. We are in daily contact with our managers across all operations and we continue to closely monitor the situations in the communities where we live and work. We are following all federal, provincial and local health unit guidelines in implementing procedures to protect our employees. We have instituted even stricter sanitation protocols and biosecurity measures throughout our operations and have restricted access to outside parties to essential services.

We are working differently, but the values that have enabled our company to meet previous challenges remain unchanged. Our commitment to doing the right thing and putting people first will continue to guide all decisions we make.

These are exceptionally challenging times and we want to thank all of our employees, producers and suppliers who support our ability to continue to produce and deliver eggs to our customers and consumers. Our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by the virus, especially those who, or have friends or family who, are sick and under medical care. We are inspired by the contributions of medical professionals, front line responders, workers and farmers in our communities whose efforts are helping to ensure all in Ontario, and across Canada, are cared for and their essential needs are met.

I also want to convey my personal appreciation for all the hard work and commitment to the operations by all our staff — these are times unlike I have ever experienced before — but we will work through them and be stronger for it.
